Captain Bryan Moore attends a wounded civilian after abdominal surgery, encouraging her to breathe deeply. She had been shot through the belly with an AK-47 round that did not injure the fetus growing in her gravid uterus. After her recovery she was evacuated to a higher echelon of care. The fates of her and the baby were unknown to the surgical team.

This itinerant Army chaplain and his driver drove around the western desert looking for camps where he would provide multidenominational worship services. The 934th FST surgical tent is far back on the left, behind the tent with the red cross. The large general purpose tent on the right is a large recovery tent where wounded enemy prisoners of war (EPW) were kept. Beyond that is the landing zone for medevac helicopters.

Majors Robert Bass and Richard Florio use a giggle saw to amputate a leg in a makeshift operating theatre near Karbala, Iraq, with Sergeant Christopher Brockert assisting.

This Iraqi soldier was brought to the 934th FST in extreme shock with less than one fifth of his normal blood volume remaining. A rapid amputation and simultaneous abdominal exploration was performed by two teams of surgeons while soldiers of the unit, including the commander, Lieutenant Colonel Robert Monson, laid down to do direct transfusions into the wounded soldier. As a result he stabilized and survived.
